What is a MMISBRUNNR?

In Norse mythology, Mmisbrunnr (written in our logo in the runic Futhark alphabet) is a well located beneath the “World Tree” Yggdrasil that sits at the crossroads of the nine Viking worlds of gods, humans, and those who have gone before us.  The well is cared for by the Norse god Mímir, renowned for his wisdom and counsel, and it is said that Odin himself gave up an eye to drink the water from the well and gain its wisdom.

As a nonprofit organization, we draw our inspiration from this well. Just as the mythical Mmisbrunnr was believed to hold profound secrets and offer rejuvenation, our modern-day MMISBRUNNR offers a therapeutic environment where veterans can tap into their own inner wellspring of wisdom, strength, and resilience, a place where we can work together, learn from each other, and build on our service to the community. It’s a place, like Yggdrasil, where we can connect with our community, our spirits, our gods, and reconnect with those we’ve lost.

MMISBRUNNR now becomes a gathering place where Veterans come together to share their experiences, support one another, and honor the collective wisdom gained through their service; the stories, insights, and lessons learned by veterans are acknowledged, celebrated, and passed onto future generations. MMISBRUNNR serves as a wellspring of strength, healing, and community for veterans. It acknowledges their inherent worth, their journeys of self-discovery, and their deep connection to the timeless legacy of service.
